PUT A CAP ON YOUTH HOMELESSNESS
Raising the Roof is Canada's only national charity
dedicated to long-term solutions for homelessness. For the 2010 Toque Campaign
launching November 2009, McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association
will be both managing the local Calgary Campaign and the recipient of the
majority of proceeds from this year's Toque Campaign. Our goal is to invite all
Calgarians to come together and participate in solutions to end youth
homelessness by buying and wearing a Raising the Roof Toque.
The sale of these $10 toques directly funds long-term solutions to youth
homelessness. For every toque sold we are able to acquire a bus pass or some
clothing for one of our youth. For every 10 toques sold we are able to acquire
supported housing for one youth for a week, as we work to provide the
life-skills that will allow him/ her to break away from street culture. For
every 200 toques sold we are able to put a youth through school for a year or
connect him or her to an apprenticeship program for 2 months. These are real,
long-term solutions for the homeless youth in Calgary today.
How can you help?
McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association will be around Calgary
promoting this cause from November 19, 2009 thru to March 31, 2010. Locations,
dates and times will be updated on a regular basis or if your company and /or
your family and friends are interested in taking the "Ten -Toque Challenge".

on nine to deserving friends or fellow supporters. The toques are an easy way to
make a difference in the lives of Canada's homeless men, women, youth and

The "Ten -Toque" Difference
Wonder what your purchase of ten toques can do?
- For 16-year-old Cindy, struggling to finish school while living on the
streets, it represents a hot lunch every day for a month.
- For Dillon, trying to hold down his first job and pay rent, it?s a monthly bus
pass.
- For Indra, it's a night at a shelter for her and her child.
