Funded by South East Alberta Fetal Alcohol Network, the FASD Youth Mentor helps children and youth between the ages of 10 and 17 who are diagnosed or suspected of having FASD. Through a trusting relationship, the mentor helps the youth develop the skills they need in order to be successful at home, school, work and in the community. The mentor will provides strategies and positive role modeling to help the youth build effective social and life skills, as well as structured and consistent routines. Support is also provided to the families and caregivers to assist with the skills and knowledge necessary to raise their child.
