Baby Biz is a pre-natal program for families who are expecting. The group meets weekly to discuss pre-natal topics including healthy pregnancies, labour and delivery, breastfeeding and newborn care and development. There is no cost to join this program.
Families can join the group any time during their pregnancy until the child is six weeks of age post-partum. Baby Biz is for families who have concerns such as low income, smoking, alcohol and drug use, poor weight gain, single moms, health problems, physical and emotional abuse.
The group meets every week for 2 hours at the McMan office. The facilitator arranges for activities, provides discussion and information on pre-natal topics as well as life skills including healthy eating, cooking, exercise, community services and relationships. Grocery coupons are given to participants each time they come to the group. A healthy snack is also provided each time the group meets.
Families may withdraw from the program at any time. The program is voluntary and offered until the child is 6 weeks of age.
