Kinnections is a non-intensive, kinship care support service that facilitates the well-being of Kinship Caregivers and the children placed in their care. The program is designed to work with the caregivers to meet the children's needs, to maintain the familial and cultural ties, to strengthen the family's emotional and physical well-being and to support permanency planning for the children. Specialized services include caregiver networking groups, training workshops, mentorships supports and access to other agency resources where available and required.
Kinship Caregivers are:
- Referred for services through Children's Services
- Adult relative or adults who have significant relationships with the child
- Come from various cultural and socio-economic groups
- Would benefit from information, concrete support, advocacy, parent training and supportive connections

- Family relationships are essential to the development and well-being of children

- Kinship Caregivers benefit from supportive connections and resources to care for kinship children
- Children benefit from being placed with family members and significant others
